Some beauty brands are built in labs. One Minute Manicure was born in a Houston kitchen, where former manicurist Rosie Herman mixed a formula for her own dry skin that no one has been able to duplicate. What started as a stay-at-home mom's way to make a little extra money grew into an international business that created an entirely new category within the beauty industry, a product still recognized as the category's leader, carried nationwide and sold as far away as Europe and Canada. WWC designed and built the brand's original e-commerce website in the era before platforms like Shopify existed, engineering a custom system sturdy enough to absorb the surge of more than 50,000 orders that followed Rosie's appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show. The store later converted to Shopify, with Stripe and WordPress underneath, but the digital storefront still carries Rosie's recipes well beyond the salon shelf.
Creating a category is one thing. Owning it online is another. One Minute Manicure had already done the hard part, growing from kitchen jars labeled Mommy's Magic into a brand carried by salons and retailers and shipped internationally, with a formula no competitor could replicate. With national attention building, the company needed a direct channel it controlled, a storefront where customers could buy straight from the source and that could hold up when demand spiked. The brand asked WWC for an e-commerce website that matched the product's reputation, told Rosie Herman's story clearly, and ranked in search for the category it had created.
WWC designed and built the One Minute Manicure website around a simple conviction, that a product this proven should be effortless to buy. In the years before Shopify existed, that meant engineering the e-commerce system itself, a custom platform built to take orders at real volume without breaking stride. Clean layouts and intuitive navigation move shoppers from first visit to checkout without friction, and search engine optimization runs through the build, structuring pages so One Minute Manicure surfaces for the category it invented. The store was later converted to Shopify, with Stripe securing payments and WordPress carrying the brand's content and Rosie's story. The site works the way the product does, quickly and without fuss.
The site met its moment. When Rosie Herman's appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show aired, the custom e-commerce system WWC built handled the more than 50,000 orders that poured in, and the storefront went on to drive sizable online sales for the brand. The work earned multiple awards at the time, including 2 Gold ADDYs. More importantly, it proved that a kitchen-table brand could sell like a national one, with a digital storefront ready for a national television audience.
