Brand Book

American National

A brand carried by many companies is only as strong as its most inconsistent use. American National Group and its direct and indirect subsidiaries conduct business as American National in all 50 states and Puerto Rico, offering insurance and retirement solutions that trace back to the company's founding in 1905. At that scale, with that many hands on the brand, consistency becomes a business discipline rather than a design preference. WWC worked with American National to develop and produce the company's Brand Book, a definitive branding reference delivered in print and digital editions and built to help the American National family maintain and strengthen its corporate brand. The result gives every subsidiary, team, and partner a single standard for how the brand looks, speaks, and behaves, protecting more than a century of equity in the insurance and financial services sector.

Scale tests every brand. American National built more than a century of trust in insurance and financial services, growing into a family of direct and indirect subsidiaries doing business in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. That reach is an advantage, and a risk. Every subsidiary and team touches the brand, and without a shared standard an identity drifts one off-spec logo and off-tone headline at a time. American National asked WWC to codify the corporate brand in a single authoritative resource, one the entire organization could use to keep the American National name consistent everywhere it appears.

WWC developed and produced American National's Brand Book in both print and digital form, the definitive reference for the company's corporate identity, covering the logo system, color, typography, voice, and the co-branding rules that govern subsidiary communications. WWC then built the digital tools that make compliance practical, a logo download system that serves the correct files based on intended use, and a verification tool that lets any user upload or screenshot a piece and check it against the standard. Designed for a family of companies rather than a single marketing department, the system turns brand stewardship from scattered knowledge into a documented, self-enforcing discipline.

Inside the organization, the Brand Book landed the way a standard should, adopted rather than shelved. Internal feedback was strongly positive, and the digital tools changed day-to-day behavior, with the usage-based logo download system and the compliance verification tool helping reduce brand misuse across the American National family. More importantly, a company doing business in all 50 states and Puerto Rico now protects its brand the same way it built it, with discipline.
