À la mode — app screen
À la mode — app screen 2

A new social app gets one chance at a first impression. WWC, a Houston, Texas marketing and technology agency, took À la mode from concept to shipped product for a startup, handling branding, UI/UX design, and full app development. The idea was simple and social, photograph 2 outfits, send them to friends, and let the group vote for a favorite, quick feedback before a date, an event, or a decision in the store aisle. WWC engineered the platform in Flutter, so a single codebase delivers a fast, native-feeling app on both iOS and Android, and built the data layer on MongoDB, a flexible foundation for the user-generated content a social platform runs on. Every screen, interaction, and system serves the same goal, an app that feels finished the moment it opens. In a category where users decide in seconds, that polish is the product.

Social is unforgiving territory. New platforms compete for attention against apps with enormous budgets, and users abandon anything that feels unfinished. À la mode began as a startup's concept with a clear premise, snap a photo of 2 outfits and let friends vote on which to wear, and it needed to become a real product with a real identity. The client asked WWC to handle the entire journey, branding, product design, user experience, and full app development, so a single partner could carry the idea from identity to working software without losing the thread between how it should feel and how it would be built.

WWC designed and engineered À la mode as one continuous effort. Branding gave the app its visual identity, and user experience design kept the core loop effortless, photograph 2 outfits, share them, and watch the votes arrive in time to matter. Engineering built the product in Flutter, delivering smooth, native-feeling apps for both iOS and Android from a single codebase, while MongoDB stores the platform's social data in a flexible document model built to grow with its community. Because design and development ran side by side, every designed interaction actually shipped, and the finished app matched the intent of the original concept.

À la mode launched first in Europe and found its audience fast, passing 1 million downloads and picking up local press coverage in the German market. It also performed where startups are truly measured, carrying the company through 2 investor rounds before the app was acquired by another company. More importantly, a concept that began as a simple question, this outfit or that one, became a product strong enough to fund, grow, and sell.
