Virtual Experience
Choosing a summer camp is a leap of faith made from hundreds of miles away. Camp Ozark, one of the largest summer camps in the country, welcomes 7,000 kids ages 7 to 17 each summer to its grounds in Arkansas' Ouachita Mountains, where campers choose from over 120 activities across land, water, and adventure programming. Families arrive from more than 40 states, and most commit before ever setting foot on the property. WWC, a Houston marketing and technology agency, partnered with the Camp Ozark team to close that distance, developing a series of virtual experiences and interactive maps that let prospective campers and parents explore the camp from anywhere. The work gave a 400-acre destination a digital front door, turning curiosity into confidence long before the first day of camp.
A camp visit cannot scale. Camp Ozark draws 7,000 kids to the Ouachita Mountains every summer, many from families who live hundreds of miles from Mt. Ida, Arkansas. For parents weighing a multi-week overnight stay, photos and brochures only go so far, and the camp's 400 acres of river, forest, and activity areas are hard to grasp from a distance. Camp Ozark asked WWC to bring the property to the people, creating digital experiences that let families tour the camp, understand its layout, and feel its energy before enrolling.
WWC developed the virtual experiences and interactive maps in custom WebGL, real-time 3D that runs directly in the browser with nothing to download. The virtual experiences put prospective campers inside the camp, moving through the waterfront, cabins, and activity areas that define a session at Camp Ozark. The interactive maps organized a 400-acre property with over 120 activities into something navigable, giving parents a clear sense of where their kids would sleep, eat, and play. Together, the tools turned the camp's strongest asset, the place itself, into something every family could experience from home.
Families used the tools the way Camp Ozark hoped they would. The virtual experiences and interactive maps saw high adoption among prospective campers and parents, becoming a regular part of how families explored the property before enrolling. For a camp that draws 7,000 kids from more than 40 states each summer, that reach mattered, giving distant households a genuine feel for the grounds before committing to a session. More importantly, the work proved a place-based brand can travel, putting 400 acres of the Ouachita Mountains within reach of any family, anywhere.
