Give Our Pets A Hand

Helping a pet in Houston should not require a research project. The region's animal welfare community spans more than 200 nonprofits, each with its own mission, services, and ways to get involved, and no central place to discover them. GOPAH set out to become that place, a single resource where pet owners find care guidance and animal lovers find organizations to support through adopting, fostering, volunteering, and donating. The nonprofit asked WWC to design and build a website that could organize this sprawling landscape, make it genuinely searchable, and stay useful as the network grows.

WWC designed and built the GOPAH website on WordPress with a user experience shaped around 2 audiences, people who need help for a pet and people who want to give it. A knowledge base ties into shelter data feeds from around the Houston metro, keeping resources on animal health, behavior, and safety connected to the organizations behind them. GIS features let visitors explore Houston's animal welfare network geographically, while data visualization tools turn a directory of 200+ organizations into something scannable and clear. Every decision pointed toward the same outcome, getting a Houston resident from question to action in as few steps as possible.

Launched as an entirely new site, gopah.org has grown steadily ever since, serving as Greater Houston's centralized guide to pet care and animal welfare with more than 200 organizations featured across the region. It connects people facing hardship, relocation, or a lost pet with groups that can help, and points animal lovers toward opportunities to adopt, foster, volunteer, and donate. More importantly, it gives a fragmented animal welfare community a shared front door, one place where every visit can become help for a pet.
