Most parks are green space. Levy Park is a stage. Reopened in 2017 after a $15 million renovation, the urban park in the heart of Houston's Upper Kirby District runs a year-round calendar of free wellness, arts, and family programming alongside private venue rentals. When the firm that built the park's website pivoted away from web development, Levy Park was left with a Django site its staff could not easily manage. WWC converted the site to WordPress with an easy-to-use CMS and upgraded the online events calendar, the central component of the venue's website, integrating FareHarbor, the park's payment and scheduling system, so visitors can find, book, and pay for events and rentals in one place. User experience, SEO, and e-commerce work rounded out the build, with Mailchimp keeping the community in the loop. The result is a site that finally keeps pace with the park.

A full calendar is a website's hardest test, and Levy Park was facing it with the wrong tools. The firm that originally built the park's website had pivoted away from web development, leaving Levy Park with a Django site that could not be easily managed by the staff who needed to update it. The park runs free year-round programming alongside private venue rentals, with payments and scheduling handled through FareHarbor, and its online calendar sits at the center of it all. Levy Park asked WWC to convert the site to a platform its team could actually run and to upgrade the calendar that drives it.

WWC converted levyparkhouston.org as-is from Django to WordPress with Elementor, preserving the site the park knew while giving staff a CMS they can update in minutes. The online calendar, the central component of the venue's website, got a full upgrade. FareHarbor integration ties payment and scheduling directly into the site, so venue rentals and paid programs are booked and paid in one place rather than a separate system. A Mailchimp connection turns visitors into subscribers who hear about upcoming programming first, and search engine optimization keeps Levy Park visible when Houston goes looking for something to do.

The launch succeeded on both fronts, a site the staff can manage and a measurable improvement in search visibility. Levyparkhouston.org now anchors the park's operations, carrying the full events calendar, venue reservations, field trip requests, and email signups, and the park keeps it current with a steady year-round stream of free programming. More importantly, the website works the way the park does, open to everyone and easy to walk into.
